Discovering a Wild Corner of the Maiella
Are you ready to experience an unforgettable adventure in an extraordinary natural setting?
The F2 Trail, better known as "Anello della Cascata di San Giovanni”, is a circular route that will take you on a fascinating hike through the heart of the Parco Nazionale della Maiella. Although suitable for many hikers, this route requires a certain level of fitness due to some steep sections. But don’t worry: your effort will be more than rewarded by the beautiful landscape and the spectacular waterfalls.
The circular route, starting and ending at Bocca di Valle, a hamlet of Guardiagrele (CH), winds through a dense beech forest, with the sound of Vesola stream accompanying you throughout the journey. Along the way, you will cross small wooden bridges and picturesque streams, surrounded by lush vegetation rich in endemic species – such as the Pinguicola di Fiori and the Aquilegia della Maiella – which are sure to take your breath away.
The highlight of the hike is undoubtedly reaching the Cascate di San Giovanni: with their two powerful drops of 35 and 15 metres, these magnificent waterfalls offer a truly unforgettable natural spectacle. Feel the fresh breeze on your face as you stand in awe of the sheer power of water cascading into depths.
Beyond the natural beauty, the hike offers the chance to immerse yourself in the local history and culture. The trail passes close to the memorial dedicated to the war hero Andrea Bafile and allows you to discover interesting facts about the local flora and fauna thanks to the informative panels along the route.
