Museo dell’Ottocento – Fondazione Di Persio-Pallotta

In the heart of Pescara Vecchia, within the walls of an elegant building that once housed the Banca d’Italia, the Museo dell’Ottocento invites you on an enchanting journey through 19th-century painting and sculpture. Home to over 260 works from the private collection of Venceslao Di Persio and Rosanna Pallotta, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the evocative styles of the Neapolitan School and the Barbizon School, showcasing a century of profound artistic and cultural transformation.

Spread across three floors and fifteen rooms, visitors are immersed in an era of change, innovation, and new ideals, with exquisite period frames from the 16th to the 19th century adding elegance and character to each work.

At the entrance, a library of over 3,000 volumes dedicated to 19th-century visual arts welcomes you. From monographs and historical catalogues to rare publications, it offers invaluable insights into the history of art. Highlights include an impressive Baroque frame and the delicate portrait of Nelly, daughter of the Symbolist painter Eugène Carrière.

The building, constructed in 1925, has been meticulously restored by the Fondazione Di Persio-Pallotta, which in 2010 transformed it into a timeless art space, designed according to the most modern museological standards.
